1. Which customisations are still used?
It’s common to find a large share of old modifications are no longer needed. Removing them is cheaper than converting them.
2. Can the rest become events?
Business Central extensions can’t edit base objects. Most changes can be rebuilt with event subscribers — some need redesign.
3. Cloud or on-premises?
The answer affects integrations, reporting tools and what custom code is allowed. Decide early.
4. How much history do you migrate?
Open entries and balances, certainly. Ten years of posted documents — maybe not. Archive what you don’t need to move.
5. Who tests, and when?
Users who post real transactions should test real scenarios before go-live. Their sign-off matters more than ours.
