A small team that ships.

Stemic Technologies Limited is a Nairobi-based team building systems for SACCOs, insurers and schools. We work with finance and operations people who are tired of systems that look good in a demo and fall apart on a Monday.

We started Stemic because we kept seeing the same thing: good businesses running on bad workarounds — spreadsheets beside the ERP, payments typed in twice, reports that took a week.

The software was rarely the problem. It was set up without understanding how the business actually worked, or customised in ways that made every update painful.

So we do it differently. We learn the workflow before touching configuration. We write extensions instead of editing the core. We stay close to the people using the system, and we hand over properly — with training, documentation and clean data.

Today most of what we build runs on an open-source platform — including our own systems for SACCOs, insurers and schools. Open source means our clients never pay per-user licence fees, so their budget goes into making the system fit. We still support teams on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and we connect everything to M-Pesa, KRA and the other services Kenyan organisations depend on.

What we hold to

Four rules we don’t bend.

These come from projects that went well — and a few that taught us the hard way.

01

Workflow before features

We map how work really moves before we configure anything. Features that don’t serve the workflow don’t get built.

02

Never modify the core

Extensions, custom apps and events. Your system should take updates without anyone holding their breath.

03

Plain language, fixed scope

You’ll know what’s being built, what it costs and when it lands. No surprise change requests at the end.

04

Leave it maintainable

Readable code, documented processes and trained users. You shouldn’t need us forever — though most clients stay.

Integrations we work with

The local plumbing.

The connections that make an ERP useful in Kenya — built, tested and monitored.

Tax

KRA eTIMS

Real-time invoice validation, credit notes and compliance alerts.

Payments

M-Pesa Daraja

Collections, bulk disbursements and automated reconciliation.

People

Biometric devices

Clock-in/out, leave balances and overtime synced to payroll.

Everything else

Custom APIs

Legacy migration, third-party apps and data warehousing.

Let’s talk.
